Police Department
The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) consists of 42 sworn officers and 29 non-sworn personnel. It is committed to the prevention of crime and the protection of life and property, preservation of peace, order and safety, enforcement of laws and ordinances, and safeguarding constitutional guarantees.
The ELPD engages in a number of community outreach activities, including an active Community Engagement/Sector Officer program, National Night Out, Shop with a Cop, the Police Athletic League (PAL) and more.
Registration and Documentation Services
Police Records offers a number of registration and documentation services, including police incident reports, accident reports, gun permits, record checks, security clearance letters, notary public service, in-car video, all other video and audio, sex offender registry and background checks. ELPD Sgt. Adam Park and Sgt. Kristine Khoury serve as the supervisors of the Criminal Investigation and Community Engagement Team (CICET). The Community Engagement arm of this team includes non-sworn Police Social Workers and Neighborhood Resource Specialists who are working to connect those in need with social services and resolve quality of life issues within the community.
